If you want to work out what you're passionate about - start a blog. It stretches you in a bunch of directions! Plus you'll make new online friends. If you attend blogging events you'll even get to meet them in person. I enjoyed writing for Inspired Wish. That was my very first personal blog. It taught me a lot, from SEO to social media, and web site usability.
I wrote about about my love of jewellery making. How I was feeling dowdy and hired a Personal Image Consultant. I shared tips about wearing colour and accessorising. That lead to many outfit photo challenges with the #AussieCurves Blog Hop. It challenged me to dress outside my comfort zone. I wore a spiked necklace. Discovered pastels do suit me. I even wore a bodycon dress. I shared handy things like a tutorial for a DIY Necklace Stand Holder that was pinned 9K+ times!
Right from the start I was trying to take captivating photographs. What's the point of having a blog if the photos were blah. I wore out that camera button on my Nokia mobile. I purchased a digital camera. Ahhhh so many buttons! It was a proud day when manual mode finally clicked. Pun totally intended.
Little did I know there were layers of know-how in creating a great image. Composition, lighting, white balance, exposure, and perspective. That's all before you considered putting people in the frame with posing or candid moments. Turns out I love learning ALL THINGS PHOTOGRAPHY. I've even love learning about editing programs such as Lightroom and Photoshop.
Why start a new site? So glad you asked. I wanted a fresh start. Something new for photography all on its own. Hence I'm now here under my own name. Yep, I'm owning my journey. Most of my social accounts have been updated (boy that has been a challenge, they don't always make it easy). I'm still debating if I want a facebook page.
Looking back and seeing just how far an interest in beading took me, I can't wait to see what happens next. I'm excited to grow creatively. Excited about chasing a photography dream.
I apologise for the mess. I'm still toying with templates, content and branding. I'm diy'ing the whole project with the guidance of a few courses and workshops. I love all the behind the scene stuff as much I love photography. Whilst you're here check out my portrait gallery. At this stage it's candid snaps of my friends and extended family. But you'll get a sense of my photo style. I'm super excited about updating it when I start Portfolio Building. I've learnt so much since taking most of those photographs and I can't wait to put that into practice. If you want to hear about the model call out, jump on the e-news list.
All the above photographs are self portraits thanks to my tripod and camera remote.
